Buttermere

Buttermere in the English Lake District, one of the smaller of the English Lakes in Cumbria's National Park! Buttermere lake is approx 1.5 miles by .25 miles wide.

The Lake lies adjacent to the village of Buttermere, the village actually takes its name from the lake not the other way around. The village and lake resides with in the historical borders of the former county of Cumberland, which as of 1974 is now known as Cumbria.

Buttermere offers fantastic views of the cumbrian mountain range, wildlife is abundant in this area and is very popular with ornithologists for the many varieties of birds seen in this area.

This area of the Lake District is an ideal place for Camping, Walking, Rambling, Climbing, Fishing and much more, food and refreshment can be found around Buttermere.

Buttermere provides picturesque views of the surrounding mountain range, Buttermere is a favorite with hikers as many routes can be embarked from from this area.
