Lake Windermere

Lake Windermere in the Lake District, is the largest of the English Lakes in Cumbria's National Park, at 10.5 miles long it is in the heart of the Cumbrian Mountains. The town Windermere is located on the hillside overlooking the Lake, Windermere is known as a Lake but in fact it is actually a Mere!

This stretch of water is a very a popular attraction for tourists visiting in the Lake District, with numerous tourist locations along the lake side the main ones Bowness on Windermere is located centrally and Ambleside located at the head of the lake, both an ideal starting point to explore this part of Lake District. Newby Bridge is at the foot of Windermere eventually leading to the lake side. Lake Windermere is surrounded by some stunning and very varied scenery.

Reaching Windermere is simple enough. For those travelling by the M6, exit at J36, and follow the A590 & A591.
